SmartMeme amplifies the impact of local and national non-profit and grassroots organizations with capacity-building partnerships, collaborations, and new strategy tools to change the stories that shape the dominant culture. We integrate the art of framing, the science of strategy, and the approach of grassroots organizing through our framework of story-based strategy.

Story-based strategy links traditional organizing and movement building work with new strategy, training, and communications methods to give social change workers the tools to hone their story, challenge prevailing cultural narratives, and ultimately win campaigns on the issues. As a movement support and training organization, smartMeme partners with social change organizations to offer strategic consultation and facilitation, messaging and branding, graphic design, advertising, and training.

SmartMeme has helped win victories for the Environmental Health Strategy Center (Chemical Policy Reform), Rural Vermont (Genetic Engineering), the Klamath Tribes (River Restoration), and Not With Our Money! (Prison Privatization). SmartMeme has strengthened the work of over 50 organizations across the country, and trained over 1,500 activists since 2002.
