The passage of SB 1070 in Arizona has ignited both copy cat legislation and federal policies as well as a vibrant grassroots movement pushing back against police-ICE collaboration.
The clash of the two has caused a debate about immigration policy, public safety, American identity, and migrant rights from the local to national level.
The National Day Laborer Organizing Network (NDLON) will be hosting a four day strategy convergence facilitated by smartMeme for participants in the Turning the Tide campaign to focus on both strategic messaging and effective actions.
We will analyze the state of the debate and generate strategic narrative and action strategies that advance campaign demands to end Secure Communities and 1070 copycats, stop deportations, put an end to the polimigra, and promote legalization from the bottom up.
